The point of view in this hilarious picture book is the book. Starting with the front cover, “written by a book (with help from Eoin McLaughlin)” you know it’s going to be different. Open to the publishing details and there are comments from the book with arrows pointing to different sections.
A tree drops a pinecone, painfully. A squirrel eats one of the seeds. The seed continues with silly commentary about its adventures until it eventually became a tree itself. But then, somebody chops it down. The new tree is so annoyed! Then all sorts of machinery happens and it ends up as a story… in a library… being read by YOU.
I laughed throughout this book, except for the bits where I was amazed. The illustrations are very cute too. Whoever thought a dung beetle could look endearing? Its name is Barbara.
