About Word Seeds

Word Seeds

Words are the seeds of thought. Lightning flashes in a dark squishy chamber with disconnected bits and pieces of a vague spark, welding to another evanescent wisp of recognition, cross-matched with a random image. Words form, roots sink deep into memory, sentences erupt into the sunlight of consciousness, a story emerges…

Debra L Scott is a Writer, Poet, Photographer and Artist. Common subjects of interest and review are the natural world, the seen and unseen inhabitants around us, alternative spirituality, speculative fiction, science fiction, fantasy, and seeing life through the eyes of children. Ancestry plays a large part in another of her passions, the movement of the Scott family line from medieval communities, royalty, and immigration to the Massachusetts Bay Colony.

In nonfiction and reviews, Debra addresses issues confronting those with both visible and invisible disabilites, survival strategies for latex allergy and progressive viewpoints. Born in a suburban shadow of DC, she has lived in Venezuela, Barbados, France and Tunisia. This exposure to life beyond her native home has impacted her worldview to encompass all cultures, a gift of perception.

She also is active in the disability and service dog communities and an advocate for those with the complicated and often misunderstood disease of latex allergy. As ‘Seeing Eye Wife’ to spouse Mike Marlin, life takes on a new dimension as Debra tries to view the world through the alternate perception of the blind, especially for travel reviews. She shares Mike’s passion for Universal Design in accessibility accommodations.

(original website name was: Unhindred, a combination of unhindered and kindred. However autocorrect makes the unusual spelling all but unsearchable)
