Universal Design and Accessibility

Universal Design “creates products, systems, and environments to be as usable as possible by as many people as possible regardless of age, ability or situation. Other terms for Universal Design used around the world include Design for All, Inclusive Design, and Barrier-Free Design” http://www.universaldesign.com/what-is-ud/

So that means making it possible for all people to access all things, not just the most commonly recognized life variations like blindness, deafness and mobility, but also things like severe allergies, multiple chemical sensitivities, cognitive, linguistic and sensory issues, age related issues…

While I can only really speak personally about the severe allergy issue and somewhat peripherally about blindness from what I have learned from my spouse, I have many friends with a whole host of conditions that impact their daily lives. I learn from them daily.
